We just enjoyed our Charge Conference for 2009! I know that may sound like an oxymoron to some of you that we mention in the same sentence the concepts “enjoy” and “Charge Conference”. But it is true. The reports were different...the tone was different...the atmosphere was different...the spirit was different. Instead of talking about surviving, we were dialoguing with our District Superintendent about thriving with current activity and plans for English as a Second Language classes, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Disciple Bible study, Lay Speakers, an interactive website (www.bigspringumc.org), growth in membership, and a solid commitment to our District and Conference with apportionments. It was as if fear had faded and faith had taken hold of how the Spring is going to make a difference for many in our larger Charlotte community.
For those who were not there, it is hard to describe. But our DS, Dr. George Thompson, in his sermon preceding Holy Communion did remind us of how the Holy Spirit had entered an Upper Room some time ago and invigorated those present to the point there was no turning back from success in presenting Christ to the world. I have to tell you that the waters at The Spring are swirling with New Life and a healing Spirit.
For us there is no turning back and I really don’t believe there will be a lot of even looking back over our shoulders except out of a warm sentiment for our rich history. Come to The Spring and taste this Living Water...it is truly refreshing!

HOMECOMING
What a great day. We want to thank everyone who came to celebrate with us. Some traveled great distances; Delaware, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Raleigh, Davidson, Stanley, Denver and others to numerous to list. And especially thank you to Rev. Gerald & Dottie Ramsey. Dottie, your song was beautiful and Gerald your message inspired us. There was meaningful worship, good food and fellowship. We missed those who couldn’t come and we hope to see you next year.
